Chili Cookoff 2015

While many came in cars — there were a few who came on their bikes.  In the background there was over flow parking — on the snow of course.  Three of the major contributors to putting this program together were ready at the door to welcome our guests.  More photos to follow in the next week or two.

The members of American Legion Riders Chapter 28 and the American Legion Post 28 family would like to thank all who attended our Fifth Annual Winter Biker Bar-B-Que Social despite the cold weather.  Our program this year was to support Fisher House and Canines for Veterans and because of the 200-plus who attended, each of those charities will receive at least $1500 from this event.  We would also like give a special thanks to American Legion Riders Chapter 10 in Manassas for their donation to these two charities as well as Donations from Chapter 1976 in Annandale and the donation from Homes for Heroes for food for the event.

Our event would not be successful without the support of the many American Legion Riders from around Virginia.  This including Riders from Chapters 10 Manassas, Chapter 1976 Annandale, Chapter 177 Fairfax, Chapter 120 Disputanta, Chapter 50 Crewe, Chapter 221 Caroline County, Chapter 284 Colonial Heights, Chapter 113 Princes Anne and, while he has relocated to Virginia, there was a member of Uxbridge Chapter 33 in Massachusetts.  But it is not just American Legion Riders that make this event successful — it is because of the support of many other Riders throughout the Commonwealth and we would like to add our special thanks and acknowledge those groups which include the Band of Brothers, the Latin American Motorcycle Association, the Blue Knights, the Lords of Loyalty, the Philistines MC, the Warrior Brotherhood, the Combat Vets Association, the Proud Few MC, and the Desert Knights MC.  Each year these groups, along with many other guests, gather together at our Post, to help raise funds for many needy organizations.

We would also like to thank District Commander Robert Yowell and District Vice Commander John Ward and his wife for attending and supporting this event.  And finally thanks to the Wicker-Lee Band for providing musical entertainment for our guests.

Photos for the event are being collected and will be placed on our Riders page in the next week or two as they are received.
