American Legion Post 28 would like to invite you to stop by and check out the latest upgrades to the post or just come up and have a good time among other Veterans, Sons, or Auxiliary members. We are a veteran family friendly post working to serve our veterans and community. Upgrades to Post 28 worth checking out include the latest new flooring installation and painting throughout completed in Feb 2026 and a new salad station, new HVAC unit 2025, new art mural on front of building 2025, new Kitchen renovation 2024, new sheds and Lawn equipment 2024, renovated bathrooms 2023, and Split-Mini AC units 2023. It is worth your time to come up, socialize with other Veterans, and join, renew, or transfer to Post 28 if eligible. We will be having our election of officers (President, Vice President, Secretary, Finance, Sergeant at Arms, Chaplin & Historian) during a special monthly meeting scheduled on Sunday June 28th at 2PM. We are asking all members if available to attend. Positions must be filled in order for the unit to continue.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

108th State Annual Convention<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The 108th American Legion Department of Virginia Convention will be held July 9 -12 In Richmond VA at the Kroger Center. A representative and alternate will be sponsored by the post. DIRECT INTERMENT PROGRAM<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Although it doesn\u2019t occur very often, there are situations in which a veteran, or spouse, is laid to rest at Quantico National Cemetery WITHOUT anyone (other than the cemetery staff and the hearse driver) being present.  It\u2019s referred to as a \u201cDirect Interment\u201d burial, and\/or a burial without attendees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volunteers are needed to help stand for these veterans and spouses, and ensure they receive the recognition they deserve.  For more information on participating in the program, contact Scott Haller (legionridersp28@gmail.com<\/a>)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

ARROW GAMING TEXTING SERVICE <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our friends at Arrow Gaming have provided a texting service for the Post. Members can sign up for free by texting AL28 to 52572. Once your number is in the database, the Post will be able to keep you in the loop about events and specials happening in the Social Quarters.
