Okay Post 28, it is time once again to select the officers for the upcoming term of service. Those who are willing to take on this responsibility can have their name placed in candidacy by speaking to Scott Haller, nominating chairman, or one of the current Post officers prior to the Membership meeting on 27 April. Final nominations for all Post officer positions will take place during the April Membership meeting. If you are interested in serving as part of our leadership team, we could use your help. Sign up for one of the leadership positions today.

DIRECT INTERNMENT PROGRAM
Although it doesn’t occur very often, there are situations in which a veteran, or spouse, is laid to rest at Quantico National Cemetery WITHOUT anyone (other than the cemetery staff and the hearse driver) being present. It’s referred to as a “Direct Interment” burial, and/or a burial without attendees.
Volunteers are needed to help stand for these veterans and spouses, and ensure they receive the recognition they deserve. For more information on participating in the program, contact Scott Haller (legionridersp28@gmail.com)
GROVER GAMING TEXTING SERVICE
Our friends at Grover Gaming have provided a texting service for the Post. Members can sign up for the service by texting ALPOST28 to 65389 or if you would like the Post to manage the numbers, if you will send an e-mail to either the Adjutant at adjutant@valegionpost28.org or the Social Quarters Manager at post28quantico@gmail.com your number will be added to the program. Once your number is in the database the Post will be able to keep you in the loop about events, specials, and happenings in the Social Quarters. You can easily stop the text messages once you sign if you choose to do so.
